Following the 4-star acclaim for her 2023 LP Down in Hollywood and her recent honour as the recipient of the 2025 Carol Lloyd Award, Brisbane-based retro-roots rocker Dana Gehrman returns with the first single from her forthcoming original EP. Her new track, “Some Kind of Paradise,” will be released on Friday, 28 November 2025.
A warm nod to the halcyon days of ’70s soft rock, Some Kind of Paradise leans into an easy-going, sun-drenched groove. Evoking long, laid-back days by the ocean, the song invites listeners to slow down, take it easy, and soak in life’s simple pleasures — you might just find you’re already living in “some kind of paradise.” The single also marks Gehrman’s recording debut on the flute, adding a fresh shimmer to her signature sound.
Gehrman has also announced her forthcoming EP, Ocean Blue, slated for release in early 2026, followed by an East Coast tour in March and April. Tour dates will be on sale soon.
Accompanying the single is a nostalgic music video featuring footage from renowned surf photographer Steve Core’s 1975 cult classic Ocean Rhythms. Paired with Gehrman’s breezy new track, the vintage imagery creates an immersive escape, at a slower place.
